What We Publish

The truth is, we’re pretty open in terms of genre, as you might have noticed from our author list. Basically we’re suckers for good writing, and passionate authors.

What more guidance? Ok, start by reading this blog about why we reject manuscripts.

Then, if you still want a little more info, here’s more insights into us:

Nonfiction – Be an expert in your field. You don’t have to be nationally recognized, but you must have a resume and credentials to back up what you’re writing about. “Your Genius Within” rose to be in the top 100 books in its category on Amazon because it’s clear on every page that the author has extensive training and experience in the topic. (And it doesn’t hurt that he also has an engaging and accessible voice.) If you have the knowledge but not the writing skills (or time), contact us (or someone else) about hiring a ghost writer.

Creative Nonfiction – Whether it’s a memoir, a collection of essays on a topic, or a series of blog entries, creative nonfiction should be compelling, have a narrative arc, be well written, and be about something universal. “Freak Show Without a Tent” is a collection of essays about one family’s crazy vacations, but it’s also a story about fathers and sons and family relationships in general. Those are universal themes that even non-adventure travel fans can relate to, and that’s why it was selected for the Travel Channel’s Summer 2014 Reading list.

Fiction – Fiction should have a strong narrative arc, interesting and relatable characters, realistic dialogue, and please, for the love of Plato, something needs to HAPPEN. “Unfit” has a 4.5-star rating on Amazon because the story moves quickly and has unexpected turns while also painting clear pictures that let you feel as though you are in the scenes. The most common sentiment in the reviews of Wissahickon Souls is how clear and engaging the writing was, and how connected they felt to the characters.

Key things to know:

  • We will publish previously published works, as long as the rights have reverted back to you.
  • We publish both e-books and trade paperbacks.
  • We don’t offer advances. We will, however, do everything in our power to help you sell as many books as possible and raise your profile as an author. We’re partners in this endeavor, and our success is linked.
